For teachers, the session can help build links with potential recruiters of students looking at apprenticeships or general work experience. 

For students, it allows them to gain a greater understanding of the sector and the range of careers opportunities available to them.

For you,  it is a great way to give something back and inspire the next generation of professionals!

A typical Discover Risk event is as follows:

• Introduction to the risk profession – insurance to you and me
• Short introduction of the volunteer and their career path
• A competition for 20-35 Year 11-13 students based on scenarios from around the world – from film-making and piracy, to transporting chocolate
• Students break into teams and work together to assess the risks associated with the above – they score points for correct answers
• Finally, we talk about next steps, such as Apprenticeships or degrees – and offer students and teacher the opportunity to join the CII free discover membership. To see the introductory video to the session, please click here.
